2011-11-15 | Information sessions on roof insulation in Waterschei and Winterslag

Neighbourhood managers and community workers from Waterschei and Winterslag banded together to motivate the people in their neighbourhood by means of targeted home visits and to invite them to an information evening about roof insulation. As well as receiving information on the benefits of insulation, the attendees could sign up for a group purchase of roof insulation. As far as the fitting of the insulation was concerned, they could either choose to do it themselves or to have the work carried out by a social economy project. In Waterschei there were 35 attendees from a total of 25 different addresses. Around 15 families actually decided to insulate their roofs. In Winterslag about 15 of the 30 attendees decided to have their roofs insulated.

The main focus of the first ever festival was to ensure that everyone had a good time together; many different shows – including circus acts, juggling, dance, music and dog handling demonstrations – and a host of exciting stands provided entertainment for young and old alike.

2011-07-01 | Collective purchasing groups for energy audits in Hodimont

The group has been set up as part of the Isol'Hodimont project to help both home owners and landlords with properties in the district. The main aim of the initiative is to group together all of the audit and certification applications from the district and thus ensure a top-quality service for a lower unit price. In May 2011, the LEMA research group at the University of Liège issued a call for tenders to more than 80 audit and certification bodies in Liège and Verviers. Of the nine tender applications submitted, only one met the necessary criteria in terms of quality and comparative price. Thanks to a targeted promotional campaign within the district and the help of the Verviers Guichet de l'énergie [energy information service], the project now coordinates no fewer than 40 audit and certification applications
