Energy

Despite the many subsidies and support to renovation offered by the public authorities, it has to be said that the existing urban districts’ building fabric is being renovated slowly and with difficulty. The SUN project will consequently experiment with another type of intervention, which is based more on the group dynamics, given that this could be an interesting lever for inducing behavioural change.  As a first stage, energy challenges will be organized in the various districts, in order not only to conduct a first wave of raising awareness of the energy question, but also to establish preferential contact with groups of residents. These initiatives should already enable a certain public awareness in relation to energy use to be induced. As a second stage, it will be a question of guiding candidate groups of residents towards a renovation approach, and in particular, towards the insulation of their housing.

2011-09-25 | Hodimont festival

The first ever Hodimont festival took place on Saturday 24 September. The event, which was organised as part of the SUN project, saw many of the district’s residents gather together under sunny skies in the rue du Moulin to enjoy a giant barbeque together. The main focus of the first ever festival was to ensure that everyone had a good time together; many different shows – including circus acts, juggling, dance, music and dog handling demonstrations – and a host of exciting stands provided entertainment for young and old alike.

2011-07-01 | Collective purchasing groups for energy audits in Hodimont

The group has been set up as part of the Isol'Hodimont project to help both home owners and landlords with properties in the district. The main aim of the initiative is to group together all of the audit and certification applications from the district and thus ensure a top-quality service for a lower unit price. In May 2011, the LEMA research group at the University of Liège issued a call for tenders to more than 80 audit and certification bodies in Liège and Verviers. Of the nine tender applications submitted, only one met the necessary criteria in terms of quality and comparative price. Thanks to a targeted promotional campaign within the district and the help of the Verviers Guichet de l'énergie [energy information service], the project now coordinates no fewer than 40 audit and certification applications

2011-07-01 | Hodimont'Zine

The first edition of the new district magazine, Hodimont'Zine, was published on 1 July. It contains all the latest information about the district itself, the activities taking place and the different associations active within the district.

2011-06-28 | Isol'Hodimont

The ‘Isol'Hodimont’ group purchasing project for energy efficiency was launched in Verviers in June last year. The project, which is designed to reduce the energy consumption of Hodimont residents, has been developed by the LEMA research group at the University of Liège in collaboration with the Liège authorities. On the ground, it is organised through active partners within the Verviers energy sector, notably the energy information desk at the CPAS [Centre Public d'Action Sociale – community social support centre] and the energy information service for the Walloon region.

2011-06-01 | Energy tips and tricks for Hodimont residents

As part of Vevier’s Isol'Hodimont project, Revert – a non-profit organisation specialising in fuel poverty – was invited to run seven information sessions on how to make 'Clever use of energy' in the Hodimont district in June. Three additional sessions are also planned for later in the year. All organisations active within the district have been encouraged to recommend the sessions to their customers and members.
