Community

Neither inter-cultural nor inter-generational exchanges are ever straightforward within urban neighbourhoods. The social workers of the various districts are going, in the context of the SUN project, to experiment with innovative actions in terms of social integration, which will be the subject of regular exchanges, in order to identify the most relevant means of reinforcing social cohesion within the urban districts. A research will also be carried out on the history of immigration within the Euregio, in order to make inhabitants aware that they have a common history. Furthermore, the SUN project’s euregional dimension will enable the organization of exchanges between the residents of the different districts, which should not only enable mutual learning, but also offer an opening towards the outside world and a reinforcement of Euro-regional consciousness.

2011-07-01 | Collective purchasing groups for energy audits in Hodimont

The group has been set up as part of the Isol'Hodimont project to help both home owners and landlords with properties in the district. The main aim of the initiative is to group together all of the audit and certification applications from the district and thus ensure a top-quality service for a lower unit price. In May 2011, the LEMA research group at the University of Liège issued a call for tenders to more than 80 audit and certification bodies in Liège and Verviers. Of the nine tender applications submitted, only one met the necessary criteria in terms of quality and comparative price. Thanks to a targeted promotional campaign within the district and the help of the Verviers Guichet de l'énergie [energy information service], the project now coordinates no fewer than 40 audit and certification applications

2011-06-01 | Energy tips and tricks for Hodimont residents

As part of Vevier’s Isol'Hodimont project, Revert – a non-profit organisation specialising in fuel poverty – was invited to run seven information sessions on how to make 'Clever use of energy' in the Hodimont district in June. Three additional sessions are also planned for later in the year. All organisations active within the district have been encouraged to recommend the sessions to their customers and members.

2011-02-04 | Insulation purchase group sites in St-Léonard

During December 2010, a group order for insulation work was placed with contractors to be carried out at some fifteen sites in the St-Léonard district of Liège. Thus over 1200 m2 of walls and flooring have been insulated. The product used for these various sites comes in liquid form and mainly consists of vegetable oils. Sprayed on at a temperature of 60°, it forms a soft flexible foam within 6 seconds.

2010-11-27 | Visit to Ecologically Renovated Construction Sites

In the form of a ballad, the residents of St-Léonard visit, in their own neighbourhood and on the surrounding slopes, 3 ecologically renovated construction sites. This event, which seeks to raise awareness for energy-saving and ecological renovation of buildings, also offers a chance to discover breathtaking landscapes just outside the city.
